Three Facilities. One Manufacturing Network.
COMTEC brings together three established Pennsylvania manufacturing operations, each built around a distinct set of capabilities.
Across our facilities in St. Marys and Clearfield, we provide powder metal compaction, sintering, precision machining, secondary operations, and quality support. This connected manufacturing network gives customers access to broader capabilities while maintaining the specialized equipment, processes, and experience required for demanding applications.
Specialized Facilities. Shared Capabilities.
Each COMTEC location is built around a distinct set of manufacturing strengths. From broad powder metal production and stainless steel processing to high-tonnage compaction and precision gear manufacturing, our facilities give customers access to the equipment and processes best suited to their parts.

COMTEC Manufacturing
St. Marys, Pennsylvania
COMTEC’s headquarters supports a wide range of powder metal components, from complex multilevel parts to stainless steel and soft magnetic applications. The facility includes 23 molding presses with compaction capabilities ranging from 5 to 825 tons. Multi-action pressing equipment allows the team to efficiently produce complex components while eight high-precision machining centers support demanding dimensional requirements.
Five sintering furnaces, in-house secondary operations, and a dedicated quality laboratory allow production to remain closely controlled throughout the manufacturing process.
COMTEC's Capabilities
- Compaction from 5 to 825 tons
- 8 high-precision machining centers
- 5 sintering furnaces reaching up to 2,350°F
- Ferrous molding and sintering bays
- CNC machining
- Sizing and coining
- Vibratory deburring
- Oil impregnation
- Assembly
- In-house testing and measurement
Dedicated Stainless Steel Manufacturing
COMTEC also operates a dedicated stainless steel facility with sintering capabilities reaching up to 2,450°F.
A controlled hydrogen atmosphere helps optimize material properties while reducing impurities and the risk of cross-contamination from ferrous alloys. Dedicated equipment also reduces production changeovers and eliminates the extended purge cycles commonly required when stainless steel and ferrous components share the same furnace.
Innovative Sintered Metals (ISM)
St. Marys, Pennsylvania
Innovative Sintered Metals is designed for high-productivity powder metal manufacturing, with a focus on higher-tonnage requirements, complex components, and automotive applications.
The facility includes 13 advanced molding presses with compaction capabilities ranging from 15 to 825 tons. Two presses provide capacities greater than 500 tons, supporting large or demanding components that require significant compaction force.
ISM also provides specialized gerotor manufacturing and high-temperature sintering capabilities.
ISM Capabilities
- Compaction from 15 to 825 tons
- Two presses exceeding 500 tons
